JOSHUA TREE WOMEN’S CLIMBING RETREAT

WOMEN'S CLIMBING GETAWAY

Our women's retreats are currently on hold.  Please sign up for our women's event email list to stay up-to-date on the next women's getaway trip!

In partnership with Mountain Girls, Stone Adventures is excited to offer female led weekends in this beautiful desert oasis this summer in July, August and September.  Dates run Friday evening through Sunday afternoon on 7/24-26, 8/07-8/09 and 9/11-13. Enjoy the vast Joshua Tree landscape in the company of other lighthearted and encouraging women.  Challenge yourself, embrace failures, celebrate success in a safe and accepting environment.

WHAT'S THE ADVENTURE?

Expect an adventurous weekend led by professionally certified female rock climbing guides and wilderness first responders. This all inclusive trip includes lodging, healthy meals, two climbing guides and all of the rock climbing gear. Our guides will customize the climbing to suit the ambitions and skill sets of our guests.  In order to do this, we will keep the group a small and personable size of 6-8 sign ups. All experience levels, ambitions and ages are welcome.  This trip is recommended for beginner and intermediate climbers.  If this is your first time climbing outside, don't worry!  There are over 9,000 rock climbing routes in Joshua Tree National Park, i.e., something for everyone!!  Our top priority is to keep our ladies climbing and having fun all weekend!

WHY JOSHUA TREE IN THE SUMMER?

Many people ask us about climbing in the summer.  It is actually a great time to climb in Joshua Tree if we avoid the mid-day sun and heat!  Every day, there is about a 30 degree swing in temperature in the Joshua Tree area. There is also a huge difference in temperature in the sun or shade in the high desert.  Stone Adventures runs climbing trips through the summer by only running half days at sunrise or sunset. In fact, in June, many of our guests start their climbing day with a light jacket (we start at 7:00 am).  By keeping the approaches short, climbing in the shade and avoiding mid-day heat, climbing in Joshua Tree during the summer feels like a warm day in spring and we have most of the climbing to ourselves!  Amazing!!

Summer is a great season for the high desert for other reasons. Lazy mid-day rests and siestas help unwind, relax and set us up for fun evening activities like sunset yoga and stargazing.  This year, the Perseids Meteor Shower will be from July 17-August 26 (with the peak nights on 8/11-12).  Joshua Tree National Park is a designated International Dark Sky Park and a fantastic place for experiencing summer meteor showers. This retreat will set up us nicely to make the most of the Perseids Meteor Shower as we will witness it near its peak, but without the hoards of cars that flood up to the desert to watch it.  In other words, the days are longer, the mid-day heat forces us to relax and rest, the night sky is inviting, there are meteor showers, there are no overcrowding or parking issues, the rock climbing is spectacular (as usual) AND we get our pick of nearby crags to choose from!  Summer is a great time to experience Joshua Tree National Park.

PRIVATE ACCOMMODATIONS

To make the most of our mid-day break, the accommodations will have a pool for ultimate high-noon relaxation.  On the property there will be games and activities for our ladies to partake in as well as comfortable lounging chairs to wind down in.  Every participant will have her own bed, though may be sharing a room.  We recommend relaxing mid-day and/or taking a siesta to make the most of the late evening activities of stargazing, followed by another early morning or climbing on day 2.  (The current pictures are from our last Women's Retreat.  We are awaiting final approval before posting pictures of the summer home we will stay in.)

HEALTHY MEALS

All weekend your taste buds will be treated to the heavenly cuisine from Mojave Monaco or snacks and breakfasts purchased from Trader Joes. Every meal will be able to accommodate to any dietary restriction, lifestyle choice, or food allergy. Mojave Monaco is a locally harvested and sustainable business that we believe will compliment this nature retreat nicely. We aim to create healthy relationships with the environment around us and we are thrilled that Mojave Monaco shares that passion. To get a preview of what might be on your menu this weekend, you can find more mouthwatering dishes here.
